edhinijam(Endapalli): Concerned that the crop fields will dry up due to lack of irrigation, the farmers protested on the road demanding the release of water. Farmers staged a dharna-protest on Rajarampally-Basant Nagar road on Thursday, demanding that water be released through the SRSP canal and pump house, which are the means of irrigating crops in Munjampally, Maredupalli and Undeda villages of the mandal. Leaders of the opposition Bajapa and Barasa Party supported this and demanded immediate release of irrigation water. Speaking on this occasion, the respective leaders accused that they came to power with the promise of providing a permanent solution for irrigation water to the villages of Munjampally, Maredupalli and Undea in the elections and ignored it today. He pointed out that the Revanth Reddy government is trying to cause trouble to the farmers, as evidenced by the fact that there is no trace of irrigation water even after sowing and planting. He said that the local MLA should immediately take the initiative and release the irrigation water, otherwise a large-scale protest program would be taken up. The protest program was called off as traffic was disrupted due to the encampment on the road.
